Day 1: PICC Line Certification/ IV thereapy Update

Day 2:  Review of all new Infusibles for Autoimmune Diseases

This Seminar is designed for the LVN or RN who wants to refresh or renew their mechanical skills in establishing an IV and the insertion of PICC lines. The objectives are to learn about new diagnoses and therapies, including DNA antigens and biologics, for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. There are 81 autoimmune diseases that have now been identified. The good news is there are more than steroids and analgesics available as treatments. There are new drugs that turn the disease off and prevent further deterioration.

 Topics Include:

• IV therapy Updates and review
• Simulated PICC insertion, modified Selinger technique
• Rationale for selection of various catheters
• Nursing liability and responsibilities
• Types of autoimmune diseases
• Diagnostic criteria for accurate diagnosis
• Disease modifying agents to slow disease or control remission
• Complications of inflammatory diseasees

There will be one 15 min. break in the schedule each day.
Seminar lectures are held from 0800-1500 while at sea.
